Grassroots football in focus of Belarus' Football Federation in 2017

MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian Football Federation (BFF) mainly focused on developing grassroots football in the country in 2017, Chairman of the federation Sergei Rumas noted at a BFF conference in Minsk on 14 March, BelTA has learned.

According to the official, many children's and amateur competitions were held last year. For instance, a family-oriented sports festival brought together over 600 families from across the country. More than 40,000 children received footballs during the traditional campaign “Present a Ball to a Kid”.

Over 100,000 future football stars took part the Grassroots Week. About 50,000 young football players joined Leather Ball, the BFF's joint project with the Belarus President's Sport Club. The BFF allocated around Br1 million to develop grassroots football in Belarus, Sergei Rumas said.
