Galkina 4th at 2017 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Pesaro

MINSK, 31 August (BelTA) – Yekaterina Galkina of Belarus placed fourth with the Hoop at the 2017 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Pesaro, Italy, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian scored 17,600 points to finish one step from the podium. She finished fifth with the Ball (17,800 points). Dina Averina of Russia claimed the Hoop gold with the total of 19,100 points. Second was her sister Arina Averina (19,000 points). Bronze went to Japan's Kaho Minagawa (17,700 points).

Alina Gornosko of Belarus placed 11th with the Ball (16,250 points). She came up 10th with the Hoop (16,650 points).

Competing for medals at the FIG world championships in Pesaro are about 300 athletes from 45 countries. Earlier, Pesaro played host to nine FIG World Cup events. The competitions will be over on 3 September. At the previous World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Stuttgart Belarus won one silver and two bronze medals. Melitina Staniouta claimed bronze in the Individual All-Around and the Individual Ball event. She, together with Yekaterina Galkina, Arina Sharapa and Anna Bozhko, also won the group silver. Belarus placed third in the medal table.
