First practice of HC Dinamo Minsk with new coach scheduled for 10 July

MINSK, 5 July (BelTA) – Gordie Dwyer, the new coach of HC Dinamo Minsk, will hold the first practice session with the club on 10 July, BelTA learned from the press service of the club.

On 4 July the players of the Minsk-based team had their first practice session before the new season starts. The players met with the management of the club and its General Director Anatoly Kurilets.

In the next few days the players will undergo medical tests and will begin off-the-ice training.

“New head coach Gordie Dwyer will join the team later this week when all formalities are sorted out. On Monday, 10 July, he will hold his first on-the-ice practice session with the players,” the press service said.

Currently the coaching staff is headed by Dmitry Kravchenko from HC Dinamo Molodechno.

Sixteen players including Sergei Drozd, who signed with the club on 4 July, have started preparing for the new season. The club is reviewing the players Ruslan Vasilchuk, Egor Voronov, Dmitry Znakharenko and also Bogdan Zozon and Nikita Ustinenko. HC Dinamo Minsk is looking forward to the arrival of one of the best strikers last season Rob Klinkhammer.

The first on-the-ice lesson is scheduled for 10 July. HC Dinamo Minsk will also take part in the Minsk Cup tournament. On 26 July, the Minsk club will play the pre-season match against HC Dynamo Moscow. HC Dinamo Minsk, Belarus' representative in the KHL, is set to play in Latvian Railway Cup due in Riga from 13 to 17 August.

The tenth season of the Kontinental Hockey League is to start on 21 August. The calendar will be announced on 12 July.
