FC BATE Borisov raise Belarus Super Cup for seventh time

MINSK, 13 March (BelTA) – The first official match of the new football season in Belarus ended up with the victory of FC BATE Borisov. In the match for the Super Cup the 13-time champion of Belarus beat Belarus Cup holder Torpedo-BelAZ Zhodino 3-1, BelTA has learned.

Both the teams offered a fast start to the game, with Zhodino claiming a penalty chance in the 6th minute. Andrei Khachaturyan's 11-meter kick put the Zhodino team on the scoreboard. After allowing a goal, the Borisov team recollected to create a number of dangerous situations near Valery Fomichev's net. Mikhail Gordeichuk tied it up at the 20th minute. In the second half Mirko Ivanic put his team in front before Mikhail Gordeichuk scored his second of the night in the 63rd minute.

The winners got Br9,000 as a prize. Torpedo-BelAZ Zhodino received Br4,000.

For FC BATE Borisov this Super Cup is the fifth award won in a row and the seventh one in its history. They won the trophy in 2010, 2011, 2013-2016. In 2012 FC BATE Borisov lost it to FC Gomel.
