MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) – The 2nd European Games is the celebration of sport and spirit, Chairman of the Belarusian Wrestling Federation Kamandar Madzhidov said in an interview with BelTA.

“I think that the 2nd European Games will contribute to the popularization of wrestling and sport in general in Belarus. The games is the celebration of sport and spirit. After the games we can safely bid to host any major international tournament and even the Olympics,” he said.

Belarusian athlete Azamat Nurykau will fight for the bronze medal, Ali Shabanau for the gold. “We have high hopes on Aliaksandr Hushtyn,” Kamandar Madzhidov said.

The head of the federation wished the Belarusian athletes to show their best, demonstrate the wrestling character and spirit. He noted that he is watching how the Belarusians are doing in other sports, particularly in beach soccer and martial arts.
