EOC Commission discusses use of banned substances in Minsk

MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) – The Commission of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) discussed the problem of using banned substances at a meeting in Minsk, Chairman of the Commission, Counselor to the National Olympic Committee of Belarus Georgy Katulin told media, BelTA has learned.

“At the meeting of the European Olympic Committees we discussed the issues related to the use of banned substances, took a look into the case with the Belarusian national rowing team. Ahead of the Olympic Games in Rio the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) set up a special task force whose recommendations should be fulfilled by all Olympic teams,” noted Georgy Katulin.

The EOC Commission on Olympic Games touched upon the most important issues related to the preparations for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro as well as common issues concerning the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, the Republic of Korea.

On 21 April the National Olympic Committee played host to the 5th international conference Modern Sport Law in Belarus and abroad dedicated to the issues of counteracting doping. Attending the conference were about 200 specialists. The conference was followed by a ceremony to award winners and prize-holders in the contest for the best project on the theme Sport Law in the Republic of Belarus.
