PYEONGCHANG, 22 February (BelTA) - After winning gold in the Women's 4x6km Relay at the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, Darya Domracheva shared her emotions, BelTA has learned.
“Looking back at the games, I can say that this victory is a reward for all our efforts and patience. We finally made friends with Pyeongchang so to speak: with its winds, difficult weather conditions. I could not let the girls down, especially since Dinara Alimbekova left the shooting range first,” Darya Domracheva said.
The four-time Olympic champion noted the teamwork in the national team. “Our young girls surprised us pleasantly today. This means that the coaches and the technical staff did everything properly. We, the golden quartet, wish to say a big thank you to all our coaches in the national team, to Gruber who worked with me individually,” she said.
When asked whether Ole Einar Bjoerndalen congratulated her, she said that he already congratulated all the girls. “As previously, he supported us on the track. This means something and brings us luck,” Darya Domracheva said.
She also noted that this gold medal is special. “The entire Olympics in the Republic of Korea was hard. The silver medal in the Mass Start and the gold in the relay will be special for me. It was difficult to withstand such pressure, such competition. But I am proud of the girls. We all did amazingly in the relay,” she said.
Belarusian Darya Domracheva has won the fourth gold Olympic medal. By the number of Olympic golds she has surpassed German biathlete Kati Wilhelm and Anastasiya Kuzmina of Slovakia.More about Sport
