MINSK, 26 July (BelTA) – Dinamo Riga and Lokomotiv Yaroslavl (Group B) will open the preseason ice hockey tournament Minsk Cup at Chizhovka Arena on 26 July. The tournament is held to mark the 950th anniversary of the Belarusian capital, BelTA has learned.
The game will start at 15.00. In the evening the teams of Minsk and Moscow will play in Group A. Group A will also feature Yunost Minsk, the initiator of the competitions. Group B will also include Yugra Khanty Mansiysk. Yugra have already held two games against Neman Grodno. The Russian team won the first encounter 4-3SO. The Grodno team later took revenge with a 3-2 victory.
Minsk Cup is viewed as a rehearsal ahead of a new ice hockey season.
New head coach of HC Dinamo Minsk Gordie Dwyer stated before the start of the Minsk Cup that the competitions will help him see his players in action for the first time. Young players must show their best playing qualities and prove their right to be part of Dinamo Minsk. As for the results, in any game of any tournament every player strives for a victory. The Minsk Cup will not be an exception, the Canadian specialist said.
