Dinamo Minsk slam Canada 7-4 at 2016 Spengler Cup

MINSK, 27 December (BelTA) – HC Dinamo Minsk beat Team Canada 7-4 at the 2016 Spengler Cup on 26 December.

The Belarusian team is taking part in a prestigious tournament which is held in Davos, Switzerland for its 90th time.

Dinamo Minsk and Team Canada embarked on a high-level, fast-paced battle right from the opening faceoff, with five goals already in the first 17 minutes of play. Alexander Materukhin's go-ahead goal in the second minute was cancelled by Andrew Ebbett who soon tied things up. Maxim Noreau and Mason Raymond took advantage of a couple of power play opportunities to put their team in front 3-1. Yevgeny Kovyrshin cut Minsk's deficit to one before the first intermission.

Yevgeny Lisovets put the game wide open again, making it 3-3 in the 31st minute.

At the start of the third period, Maxim Noreau gave the Canadians a 4-3 lead with the third power play goal. Six minutes later Dmitry Korobov tied the game up again. After that Dinamo Minsk never looked back, as Yevgeny Kovyrshin, Sergei Drozd, and Nikita Komarov (empty netter) scored three more to roll to a 7-4 victory.

The Belarusians demonstrated high efficiency, scoring seven goals with only 19 shots on Canada's net.

Dinamo Minsk will play HC Davos in Group Cattini on 28 December.
