Dinamo Minsk kick off road trip with 2-4 loss to Slovan

MINSK, 31 August (BelTA) – HC Dinamo Minsk lost 2-4 to Slovan Bratislava as they opened up the first road trip of the 2017-2018 KHL's regular season, BelTA has learned.

The battle between two winless teams in Bratislava ended in favor of the host. Despite trailing twice against Dinamo Minsk, Milos Riha's team snapped its losing streak to celebrate its first success of the season.

Dinamo took the lead in the 14th minute when Alexander Materukhin found Alexander Pavlovich for the opening goal. But Slovan tied the game in the final second of the first period with Colby Genoway scoring a short-handed goal.

The Belarusians came out after the intermission to take the lead once again. Materukhin's shot caused chaos in the slot and Evgeny Kovyrshin was just in time to send the puck into the net.

Slovan rallied in the third, with Andrej Meszaros tying the game in the 47th minute and Michal Repik scoring the game-winner six minutes left to play. Radek Smolenak's empty net goal wrapped up the game 90 seconds before the final hooter.

The Bisons will next play Spartak Moscow Region on 2 September and Severstal Cherepovets on 4 September.
