Dinamo Minsk confirm KHL playoff berth with shootout win at Ugra

MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) – HC Dinamo Minsk secured a berth in the KHL post-season with a 3-2 shootout win against Ugra Khanty-Mansiysk on 5 February, BelTA has learned.

Ugra made a quick start, with Yevgeny Lapenkov scoring with 14 seconds into the game. Rob Klinkhammer converted his powerplay chance midway through the second period to tie the game.

Dmitry Korobov put the visitors in front in the 46th minute, but a penalty on Rob Klinkhammer saw Roman Lyuduchin make it 2-2 with seven minutes left to play.

Overtime went goalless, although Ugra had another power play.

In the shootout that followed Alexander Materukhin and Aaron Palushaj both found the net, while Ben Scrivens made two saves to give his team the win.

The win in Khanty-Mansiysk brought the Bisons' total points to 98 and guaranteed a place in the playoff of the KHL's 9th season.
