Decisions on Belarusian hockey promised soon

MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) – A serious conversation and decisions on the development of Belarusian ice hockey are coming soon, Belarus' Interior Minister, Chairman of HC Dinamo Minsk Supervisory Council Igor Shunevich told the media after his meeting with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 22 May, BelTA has learned.

The minister briefed the head of state on the plans of the hockey clubs for the coming season, the composition of the team and coaching staff, training of players for the national team.

“As you know, the problems are many. I think that discussions and decisions are ahead. We will work out new tactics and methods of assessing our results and training of players. I think it is time we used different ways to assess the situation and make the right conclusions,” Igor Shunevich said.

Speaking about goalkeepers, Igor Shunevich said that it is necessary to train native players. “The club has a foreign goalkeeper at the moment. It is not right. We need to think over a system to raise our own goalkeepers. This is a big and serious task, first of all, for the ice hockey federation,” the chairman of HC Dinamo Minsk Supervisory Council added.
