Darya Domracheva secures silver in Olympic Women's Mass Start

PYEONGCHANG, 18 February (BelTA) – Belarus' Darya Domracheva clinched silver in the Women's 12.5K Mass Start of the 2018 Olympic Games in PyeongChang on 17 February. Anastasiya Kuzmina of Slovakia took gold, BelTA has learned.

Anastasiya Kuzmina held the lead throughout the race to finish in 35:23.0 with one penalty. The 2014 three-time Olympic champion Darya Domracheva crossed the finish line second, 18.8 seconds back, with one penalty.

The PyeongChang silver is Darya Domracheva's fifth Olympic medal. Apart from her three gold medals won in Sochi in 2014, she also has bronze of Vancouver 2010.

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko congratulated Darya Domracheva on her vice-champion title.

Tiril Eckhoff of Norway finished third, 27.7 seconds behind the winner.

Clean-shooting Nadezhda Skardino of Belarus placed 7th, 47.9 seconds back. Belarus' Irina Krivko missed four times to finish 26th, 3:41.0 back.
