Darya Domracheva receives Stars of Commonwealth Award

MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) – Four-time Olympic champion in biathlon Darya Domracheva has received the Stars of Commonwealth Award, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund.

The Council of the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund decided on the prize winners of 2017, among who is the Belarusian athlete.

Apart from Darya Domracheva, the award went to conductor Yuri Bashmet, violinist Aiman Musakhodzhaeva (Kazakhstan), poet Nizom Qosim (Tajikistan), composer Stepan Shakaryan (Armenia), philologist Nargiz Pashayeva (Azerbaijan), literary critic Abdyldazhan Akmataliev (Kyrgyzstan), and physicist Ion Bostan (Moldova).

The official awards ceremony will take place at the 13th CIS Forum of Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia in Astana on 19-20 June.

The Stars of Commonwealth Award was instituted by the CIS Humanitarian Cooperation Council in 2009. The awards are annually bestowed in three nominations: science and education, culture and arts, humanitarian activity. Among the award winners of the previous years were Yuri Grigorovich, Eugen Doga, Aleksandra Pakhmutova and Nikolai Dobronravov, Mehriban Aliyeva, Vladimir Spivakov, Djivan Gasparyan. The award winners receive a diploma, a badge of honor and RUB2 million.
