Chief of Belarusian mission to Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires appointed

MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) – Belarus' NOC Executive Committee held a meeting on 7 May to appoint chief of the Belarusian mission to the Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.

Olympic champion Dmitry Dovgalenok, the head of the Olympic movement department at Belarus' NOC, has been appointed chief of the Belarusian sport delegation to the upcoming Summer Youth Olympic Games. Vasily Yurchik, the head of the international affairs department at Belarus' NOC, has been appointed his deputy.

As of 7 May, Belarusian athletes won 12 licenses: table tennis (1), trampolining (1), rhythmic gymnastics (1), rifle shooting (1), sailing (1), rowing (1), acrobatics (2) and swimming (4).

The Summer Youth Olympic Games for athletes aged between 15-18 in 32 sports will feature 3,998 participating athletes (1,999 boys and 1,999 girls). This will be the first games where the organizers have ensured gender equality. The 12-day games will include 241 medal events.
