MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) – The forthcoming Second European Games 2019 in Minsk will be held under the motto Bright You, BelTA learned from the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.

Belarus presented the motto at the meeting of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in Skopje. In short the motto will look like BY.

Georgy Katulin, who served at Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus, will lead the 2019 Minsk European Games Directorate. The current Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus, Anatoly Kotov, will be his deputy. NOC First Vice President Andrei Astashevich will make part of the EOC Executive Committee as a representative of the Second European Games organizers. Sergei Shablyko was named Sports Director of the forthcoming forum.

As BelTA earlier informed Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov has been appointed Chairman of the 2019 European Games organizing committee.

The EOC shall assume travel expenses of athletes and officials of national Olympic committees while Belarus shall cover their subsistence expenses in Minsk.

“The preparations for Minsk 2019 are very much on track, but we need to continue to work hard to ensure we deliver the exceptional product we believe the European Games can be. Today's meeting was very productive and I have complete confidence that the preparations will continue to move in the right direction,” Acting EOC President Janez Kocijancic said.

Belarus was chosen to host the Second European Games in 2019 after a vote at the 45th General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees in Minsk in October 2016. The First European Games were held in Baku, Azerbaijan on 12-28 June 2015. Belarus placed 7th with a total of 43 medals.
