MINSK, 11 January (BelTA) – Aliaksandra Sasnovich of belarus, ranked 53rd in the WTA, will face U.S. world number 67 Christina McHale in the first round of the Australian Open 2018, BelTA has learned.
Aryna Sabalenka (World No.69) will face world number 19 Ashleigh Barty of Australia.
Vera Lapko (World No.135) has an opportunity to join 128 players of the Australian Open main draw if she goes through the qualifying. She took a confident win, 6-3, 6-1 over Romania's Alexandra Cadantu (171) in the first qualifying round. The Belarusian will next play Stefanie Vogele of Switzerland (144).
The Australian Open 2018 will run from 15 January to 28 January.
