Belarusian players to get off at 2018 US Open Qualifying Tournament

MINSK, 21 August (BelTA) – Four Belarusian players will take part in the 2018 US Open Qualifying Tournament which kicks off on Tuesday, 21 August, BelTA informs.

Olga Govortsova, currently ranked 766th, is returning to tennis after maternity leave. She will face German world number 221 Sabine Lisicki in the first qualifying round. In the men's event Egor Gerasimov, ranked 260th in the world, will take on Russia's world number 237 Ivan Nedelko. Ilya Ivashka (World No.100) will play world number 200 Hiroki Moriya of Japan. Vladimir Ignatik (World No.208) will take on France's world number 136 Stephane Robert.

Three qualifying victories will be enough to secure a spot in the US Open main draw which starts in New York on 27 August. The tournament will be over on 9 September.
