Belarusian pentathletes clinch six medals at European Championships U19, U17

MINSK, 18 June (BelTA) - Belarusian pentathletes won six medals at the Modern Pentathlon U19 and U17 Junior European Championships in Drzonkow, Poland, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian duet of Yekaterina Etina and Maksim Fedotko scored 899 points to win the U17 mixed relay. The German duet came in second, with Hungary finishing third. In the U19 mixed relay Belarus' Yekaterina Sukora and Maksim Maruk (1123 points) clinched silver. Gold went to Yulia Sergeyeva and Yegor Gromadsky (1153) of Russia. Third was Lithuania.

Belarus' Yelizaveta Yezheleva and Elena Gavronskaya came in third in U17 girls' relay. Poland won the race, with Russia claiming silver.

The U19 individual bronze went to Belarus' Maksim Maruk and Yekaterina Etina. Maksim Maruk, Vladislav Berezovik and Vladislav Ostrovsky ranked third in the team standings.

The next international competitions for Belarusian pentathletes will be the 2018 Modern Pentathlon Junior European Championships in Barcelona and the UIPM 2018 Pentathlon World Cup Final in Astana.
