Belarusian cyclist Vasily Kiriyenko wins his first world champion title

MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) – Vasily Kiriyenko of Belarus claimed his first world champion title winning the 53.5km Men Elite Individual Time Trial at the Richmond 2015 UCI Road World Championships, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian covered the distance in 1:02:29.42 to earn the Rio 2016 berth. Second to cross the finish line was Italy's Adriano Malori with the time of 1:02:38.53. Bronze went to France's Jerome Coppel (1:02:56.07). Konstantin Sivtsov of Belarus finished 27th (1:05:17.40).

Last year Vasily Kiriyenko was 4th in the Men Elite Individual Time Trial in Spain. The current season has been shaping well for the Belarusian cyclist. In May 2015 Vasily Kiriyenko claimed the Giro d'Italia gold. In June 2015 he added another gold to his collection at the First European Games in Baku.

A day earlier in Richmond Alena Amialiusik of Belarus won the Women Elite Team Time Trial gold as part of her team Velocio-SRAM.
