Belarus' Yuri Shcherbatsevich 8th at ISSF World Cup in Baku

MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) – The ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun completed in Baku, Azerbaijan on 29 June, BelTA has learned.

In the 50m Rifle Prone Men event Belarus' Yuri Shcherbatsevich showed the best result in his qualifying attempt – 624.7 points. However, his hopes for the medal were vanished by a poor performance in the final. As a result, the Belarusian shooter scored only 81.8 points to finish 8th. Two other Belarusians did not make it into the top eight. Vitaly Bubnovich finished 32nd, while 2012 Olympics champion Sergei Martynov placed 35th in the qualification. The event was won by Torben Grimmel of Denmark with 208.4 points. Silver went to Kenneth Parr of the UK (208.0). Bronze was collected by Croatia's Petar Gorsa (187.5).

The competitions in the Azerbaijani capital will be over on 29 June. The shooting tournament of the 2016 Rio Games will take place on 6-14 August, with 15 medal sets waiting for their owners. Belarusian shooters hold four Olympic berths.
