Belarus wins Khalipski Memorial Tournament

MINSK, 26 May (BelTA) – The Belarusian basketball national team has won the Semyon Khalipski Memorial Tournament, BelTA has learned.

On 25 May, Natalia Trofimova's team secured a confident win over the UK 77-55 to claim the victory at the tournament. Elsewhere, Belarus' second national team lost to Argentina 56-74 finish fourth overall. Argentina placed second, with the UK on the third position.

The tournament was a preparatory phase for the Belarusian teams ahead of the continental tournaments. The Belarusian national team will play in the Czech Republic on 16-27 June. The Belarusian junior national team will travel to Israel to compete for a place in the elite division on 8-16 July.

The Semyon Khalipski Memorial Tournament was held for the fifth time. Belarus celebrated the victory in 2013. Spain was the winner of the tournament in 2014, Russia in 2015, and Turkey in 2016.
