Belarus' Vera Lapko advances to Indian Wells second-round qualifying

MINSK, 6 March (BelTA) – Vera Lapko of Belarus saw off Kateryna Bondarenko of Ukraine 6-0, 6-3 in the Indian Wells first qualifying game, BelTA informs.

The Belarusian will next face Sofia Kenin of the United States, ranked 105 in the world.

Three more Belarusian players will appear in the Indian Wells main draw. Aryna Sabalenka (World No.63) will take on world number 66 Varvara Lepchenko of the United States. Victoria Azarenka (World No.204), who got a wild card from the tournament's organizers, will face Heather Watson of the UK (World No.70). Aliaksandra Sasnovich (49) will play Magda Linette of Poland (61).

Victoria Azarenka won the Indian Wells competitions in 2012 and 2016.
