Belarus to play friendly with New Zealand in June

MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) – The Football Federations of Belarus and New Zealand have agreed on a friendly match between the two national teams, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Football Federation.

The fixture between the two national teams will be hosted by Belarus on 12 June 2017. The venue and time of the game will be announced later.

Belarus is currently 74th in the FIFA rankings, New Zealand is 109th. A friendly against Belarus will be a so-called rehearsal for the team of New Zealand ahead of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia from 17 June to 2 July 2017.

Belarus and New Zealand faced each other at the 2012 London Games, Belarusians celebrating a narrow win 1-0. The only goal was scored by Dmitry Baga.
