Belarus to host AMF Futsal World Cup in 2015

MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – For the first time in its history Belarus will host the AMF Futsal Men's World Cup on 17-25 April 2015, BelTA has learned.

The group stage matches will be held in Minsk, Brest and Pinsk. Molodechno and Borisov will play host to exhibition games. Semifinals and medal games will be held in Minsk.

The World Cup group stage draw ceremony will take place in the Belarusian capital on 27 January. Teams that will head four preliminary quartets will include Belarus, Argentina (2011 bronze medalist), Columbia (2011 champion) and Paraguay (2011 silver medalist).

Belarus will lead one of the groups not only as the hosting side. The Belarusian national team has recently made great progress finishing fifth at the 2011 AMF Futsal World Cup in Columbia. Last year Belarus won the European championships in the Czech Republic.

The second pot will include teams from Uruguay, the Czech Republic, Russia and Belgium. The third pot will comprise teams from Norway, Brazil, Slovakia, Venezuela and France, while the fourth pot will consist of the teams from Australia, Morocco, Kyrgyzstan and Curacao.
