Belarus to field ten biathletes for IBU World Championships in Hochfilzen

MINSK, 9 February (BelTA) – Ten Belarusian biathletes will take part in the IBU World Championships Biathlon which is to kick off in Hochfilzen, Austria on 9 February, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian team will include Darya Domracheva, Nadezhda Skardino, Irina Krivko, Darya Yurkevich, Nadezhda Pisareva, Vladimir Chepelin, Dmitry Abashev, Sergei Bocharnikov, Roman Yeletnov, and Maksim Vorobei.

The world sports forum will open with a mixed relay at 16.45 (Minsk time). Nadezhda Skardino, Irina Krivko, Vladimir Chepelin and Sergei Bocharnikov will represent Belarus in the event.

Ahead of the championships, the Belarusian men's team took part in the European Biathlon Championships and trained in Ramsau. The Belarusian women's team held their training camp in Ruhpolding.

After the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon in Antholz Belarus' three-time Olympic champion Darya Domracheva stayed in the Italian city together with her husband Ole Einar Bjorndalen to prepare for the world sports forum.

Among the favorites of the forthcoming competitions in Austria, according to fans and sports experts, is France's Martin Fourcade. The competition in the women's part is tougher, with Germany's yellow-bib Laura Dahlmeier, and also strong biathletes on the Czech, French and Finnish teams.

The 52nd edition of the IBU World Championships will be broadcast live on Belarus Five TV channel.

16 February - Men 20 km Individual, 16.30

17 February - Women 4x6 km Relay, 16.45

18 February - Men 4x7.5 km Relay, 16.45

19 February - Women 12.5 km Mass Start, 13.30

19 February - Men 15 km Mass Start, 16.45.
