Belarus to field 29 athletes at 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang

MINSK, 17 January (BelTA) – Twenty-nine Belarusian athletes will compete in six sports at the 23rd Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.

The executive committee of the National Olympic Committee met on 16 January to discuss the readiness of the Belarusian athletes for the 23rd Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea in 2018. The meeting approved of the preliminary composition of the sports delegation and the team's sports equipment.

According to the NOC, 29 athletes will compete in six sports: biathlon, Alpine skiing, speed skating, cross-country skiing, aerials, and short track speed skating.

As for to date, Belarusian athletes have won Olympic berths in biathlon, speed skating and short track speed skating. The final number of berths for the Winter Olympics will be announced in late January. The lineup in aerials and cross-country skiing will be known after 23 January.

The Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea will take place on 9-25 February 2018.
