Belarus takes stock of its athletes' readiness for 2018 Winter Olympics

MINSK, 19 October (BelTA) – A regular meeting of the organizing committee on the preparation and participation of Belarusian athletes in the 22nd Winter Olympic Games and the 12th Winter Paralympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Vasily Zharko at the Council of Ministers on 19 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian government.

The members of the organizing committee discussed matters related to the athletes' preparations for the Games, organizational issues regarding the participation of the Belarusian delegation in the Games, the material and technical support of the national teams at the Winter Olympics.

The heads of the federations reported on the training process of the athletes for the competitions.

Vasily Zharko emphasized the importance of developing children's and youth sports, the preparation of hopefuls for the Belarusian national teams, the coaching personnel and enhancement of their qualifications.
