Belarus' sport minister inspects progress in Dinamo Stadium reconstruction

MINSK, 4 May (BelTA) – Belarus' Sport and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk visited Dinamo Stadium to review the progress in the reconstruction, BelTA learned from the press service of the Sport and Tourism Ministry.

During the operational meeting at the stadium, Sergei Kovalchuk was reported on the progress and compliance with the schedule. According to Director General of the construction company Stroytrest No. 1 Vladimir Bublik, the facility is in a high degree of readiness. Specialists are now adjusting the sanitary and electrical equipment. Landscaping works are in progress as well. The stadium roof is 92% complete. The works to lay the turf and synthetic coatings of running tracks will commence soon. The turf has already been laid on the workout stadium. All stadium stands are complete. The finishing touches are being put to the facilities inside the stadium.

Specialists are now painting the facade of the stadium facing Ulyanovskaya Street, which, along with the central arcade in Kirova Street, are recognized historical values.

“Builders work in three shifts. Over 1,600 people are involved in the project on a daily basis. We understand that the country awaits the opening of Dinamo Stadium, one of Minsk's symbols, which hosted a big number of important competitions in the past. I am confident that once it reopens after the makeover the stadium will once again become a major sports venue. The builders are doing their best to do everything properly and in time,” Vladimir Bublik said.

The sport and tourism minister stressed that no rooms or gyms should stay idle once the stadium reopens. The reconstruction is scheduled to be completed by 31 May.

Dinamo Stadium will host the opening and closing ceremonies, and also athletic competitions of the 2nd European Games MINSK 2019.
