MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) – Belarusian hockey players Yegor Sharangovich and Pavel Vorobei made it to the KHL top ten rookies of the 2017-2018 season list, BelTA learned from the KHL press service.
According to the KHL experts, HC Kunlun Red Star head coach Mike Keenan trusted young defenseman Pavel Vorobei starting from the pre-season games. The player ended his maiden KHL season as the team's defenseman with most points. “He took part in his second world championship as one of Belarus team's leading players,” the KHL press service said.
Forward Yegor Sharangovich, the same as Pavel Vorobei, played in the past two IIHF World Championship editions. Yegor Sharangovich played his debut season in the KHL as part of HC Dinamo Minsk. His haul reached 12 points, including four goals in the games against Ak Bars, Neftekhimik, Avangard, and Salavat Yulaev.
“October turned to be the most successful month for the 19-year-old forward. He was named the KHL best rookie of the week. Yegor Sharangovich is a guy the team can rely on in the future,” the KHL said.
The KHL top ten players of the season also included Kirill Kaprizov from CSKA, Eeli Tolvanen from Jokerit, Yegor Rykov from SKA, Alexander Petunin from Dynamo Moscow, Maksim Mineyev from Avangard, Grigory Dronov from Metallurg Magnitogorsk, Viktor Kravtsov from Traktor and Metallurg Magnitogorsk goalkeeper Ilya Samsonov.More about Sport
