MINSK, 23 September (BelTA) – Alexandra Sasnovich of Belarus made it to the top eight at the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo after defeating third-seeded Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic 6-4, 6-2 in the second round of the tournament, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian will next play Naomi Osaka of Japan on 23 September.
Elsewhere, Olga Govortsova of Belarus lost to Alison Riske of the United States 6-2, 2-6, 6-7 in the second round of the Guangzhou Open in China. In the doubles event Olga Govortsova teamed up with fellow Belarusian Vera Lapko saw off Ukraine sisters Lyudmila and Nadezhda Kichenok 6-3, 2-6, 11-9 to reach the semifinal.
