Belarus, Romania to enhance cooperation in sports

MINSK, 21 February (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Romania Andrei Grinkevich and Chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Romania Mihai Covaliu discussed the ways to step up cooperation between the two countries in sports, BelTA learned from the website of the Belarusian embassy.

The parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the intensification of sports cooperation between Belarus and Romania. An agreement was reached to study the opportunity of signing a memorandum of cooperation between the National Olympic Committees of Belarus and Romania. The parties outlined concrete joint events in some sports and reaffirmed their readiness to establish cooperation, including in education, training, enhancement of qualifications, and the exchange of experience.

Chairman of the Romanian National Olympic Committee Mihai Covaliu expressed interest in visiting Belarus and supported the joint bid of Belarus and Latvia for the 2021 IIHF World Championship.
