Belarus President's team tops 9th National Amateur Ice Hockey Tournament table

MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) – The Belarus President's team celebrated their 5th victory in a row at the ongoing 9th National Amateur Ice Hockey Tournament for the Prizes of the Presidential Sport Club defeating the Mogilev Oblast team 11-3 at Chizhovka Arena on 6 February, BelTA informs.

The hosts started the game quickly, with Sergei Shitkovsky scoring on the second minute after the opening faceoff. The Belarus President's team sent home three more before the first break. Stepan Ponomarev, Alexei Vinokurov and Yevgeny Kurilin made the score 4-0. In the second stanza the guests pulled one back (Artyom Vasko) and conceded three more (Yevgeny Kurilin, Stepan Ponomarev, Sergei Shitkovsky).

In the final period Kirill Romanov and Alexei Prokopov scored for the Mogilev Oblast team while Alexei Khotko, Oleg Antonenko, Sergei Shitkovsky and Stepan Ponomarev made the final score 11-3.

Andrean Dorosevich (Mogilev Oblast team) and Sergei Shitkovsky (Belarus President's team) were named players of the match.

With 10 points after five games the Belarus President's team tops the table of the competitions. Second goes the Gomel Oblast team with 6 points after four games. The teams of Minsk and Grodno Oblasts hold four points each.

Games of the first round of the 9th National Amateur Ice Hockey Tournament for the Prizes of the Presidential Sport Club are held from November to March. The best four teams will compete for the medals at the second round.

The Belarus President's team celebrated the victory at the tournament six times: in 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015. The team of Gomel Oblast raised the trophy in 2009. The team of Minsk Oblast was the winner in 2013. Among the organizers of the tournament is the Presidential Sport Club, the Sport and Tourism Ministry, the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation, the Minsk City Hall. The general information partner of the championships is the National State Television and Radio Company.
