Belarus President's team beat Swiss hockey veterans

MINSK, 5 February (BelTA) – The Belarus President's team defeated the hockey veterans of Switzerland 11-4 at Chizhovka Arena on 4 February, BelTA has learned.

On 4 February the Belarusian capital played host to a friendly between the Belarus President's team and the hockey veterans of Switzerland with the participation of MPs. The inter-parliamentary dialogue between Belarus and Switzerland has been steadily developing. MPs also assist the development of relations in sport. During the meetings in July and October 2017 an agreement was reached to hold a hockey match in Minsk.

The Belarusian team featured both experienced hockey veterans and young players. For instance, three forwards Pavel Bely, Nikolai Lukashenko and Andrei Astashevich made a considerable contribution to Belarus' victory.

Alexander Lukashenko and his son assisted a powerplay goal in the opening period. Before the first break the Belarus President's team scored three more through Aleksei Titovets and Gennady Savilov. Andrei Astashevich was once again assisted by Nikolai and Alexander Lukashenko.

The Swiss team led by prominent Soviet hockey player, two-time Olympic champion Alexander Yakushev, did their best to make fewer mistakes in defense and managed to narrow the gap. However, Belarus scored four more in the final stanza for the final score of 11-4. Nikolai Lukashenko was among the scorers, while Alexander Lukashenko made his third assist.

Awards to the best players were presented by Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko and Filippo Lombardi, the President of the Swiss Council of States, Co-Chair of the Switzerland-Belarus Group of Friendship.

Alexander Ryadinsky and Vladimir Tsyplakov were named the best players of the match on Belarus' side.

Filippo Lombardi presented Alexander Lukashenko with HC Ambri-Piotta scarf.
