Belarus' NOC spokesperson reelected to AIPS Europe board

MINSK, 10 May (BelTA) – Spokesperson of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus, Chairperson of the Belarusian Association of Sports Press Anastasia Marinina has been reelected to the Executive Committee of the European Union of Sports Press (UEPS). The elections were held during the 80th congress of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) in South Korea, BelTA has learned.

The AIPS Europe board comprises nine representatives from different countries. Anastasia Marinina was reelected for the second term as part of the administration of the continental union of journalists. In 2014 she became Belarus' first representative in the 90-year history of AIPS to make part of the executive body of this international organization.

AIPS President Gianni Merlo, while talking to the AIPS Europe members, outlined the major goals of the organization, which is to protect the rights of journalists, fight against corruption, fixed matches and doping in sports.

During the UEPS meeting, the spokeswoman for the National Olympic Committee of Belarus made a presentation of the Second European Games scheduled to take place in Minsk in 2019.

As part of the AIPS Congress, 250 delegates are expected to visit the sports arenas of the forthcoming 23rd Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, discuss the work of the press at big sports forums.
