Belarus names Men's EHF EURO 2020 training squad

MINSK, 9 October (BelTA) – Belarus' national handball team will start gearing up for the 2020 EHF European Men's Handball Championship on 21 October, after the start of the official week of men's national teams. Head coach Yuri Shevtsov has called up 19 players to attend the forthcoming training camp, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Handball Federation.

The training camp will run at the Handball House that was inaugurated in Minsk on 14 September. The training camp will also feature freindlies against Lithuania in Minsk on 26 and 27 October.

The training squad will include Viachaslau Saldatsenka, Ivan Matskevich, Aliaksei Kishou, Andrei Yurynok, Dzmitry Kamyshyk, Maksim Baranau, Mikita Vailupau, Mikalaiy Aliokhin, Artsem Karalek, Vyacheslav Bokhan, Yury Lukyanchuk, Vyacheslav Shumak, Uladzislau Kulesh, Vadzim Haiduchenka, Barys Pukhouski, Siarhei Shylovich, Artsiom Kulak, Dzmitry Nikulenkau and Yulian Hiryk.

The 2020 EHF European Men's Handball Championship will be the 14th edition of the tournament to be co-hosted by three countries: Austria, Norway and Sweden from 9 to 26 January 2020. The tournament will feature 24 teams for the first time. Yuri Shevtsov's men will play Croatia, Montenegro and Serbia in Group A. Belarus has played in five European championships before. The country's best result was the 8th place in 1994.
