Belarus name squad for May fixtures

MINSK, 13 May (BelTA) – Head couch of the Belarusian national football team Alexander Khatskevich named players for friendlies against Northern Ireland (27 May) and Ireland (31 May), BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Football Federation.

Twenty-two players have been called to the training camp which opens in Minsk on 23 May:

goalkeepers: Andrei Gorbunov (Atromitos Athens, Greece), Sergei Chernik (BATE Borisov), Andrei Klimovich (Minsk);

Defenders: Denis Polyakov, Maxim Volodko (both BATE Borisov), Igor Shitov (Mordovia Saransk, Russia), Alexander Martynovich (Ural Yekaterinburg, Russia), Sergei Politevich (Genclerbirligi Ankara, Turkey), Roman Begunov (Dinamo Minsk), Yegor Filipenko (Malaga Spain), Mikhail Sivakov (Zorya Luhansk, Ukraine);

Midfielders: Sergei Kislyak (Rubin Kazan, Russia), Stanislav Dragun (Dynamo Moscoe, Russia), Igor Stasevich, Mikhail Gordeichuk (BATE Borisov), Pavel Nekhaichik (Tom Tomsk, Russia), Alexander Hleb (Genclerbirligi Ankara, Turkey), Sergei Krivets (Metz France), Sergei Balanovich (Amkar Perm, Russia), Ivan Mayevsky (Andzi Makhachkala, Russia);

Forwards: Sergei Kornilenko (Krylia Sovetov Samara, Russia), Nikolai Yanush (Shakhtyor Soligorsk).

The training camp will take place at the football fields of the Belarusian Football Federation in Vesnyanka. On 26 May the team will fly to Northern Ireland. The friendly against Northern Ireland is due to take place in Belfast on 27 May. On 28 May the Belarusian team will travel to Ireland for their second friendly scheduled for 31 May. The match against Ireland will take place in Cork. Both Belarus' rivals will take part in the final tournament of the European championship which is due in France from 10 June to 10 July
