MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – A new race truck will be developed for the Belarusian team MAZ-SPORTavto, MAZ Deputy Director General, Commercial Director Gennady Skitov told a press conference in the BelTA press center.
“The company has decided to make a new vehicle, namely a bonneted truck, following the successful performance at Dakar Rally. The project has already been approved. We will now start working on it,” Gennady Skitov noted.
The upgraded vehicle will boast better characteristics. “We will not talk about the innovations for the time being. I will only say that the new truck will be better than the one Alexander Vasilevsky has now. We will reduce the weight on the front axle which carries the most weight in MAZ trucks,” head of the Belarusian team Sergei Vyazovich said.
Gennady Skitov added that the new race truck will come out in 2018. “We do not rule out that the bonnet truck will go to the next Dakar Rally as a support truck,” he added.
