MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) – The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has announced groups for the 2018 IIHF World Championship which is due in Copenhagen and Herning, Denmark, BelTA has learned.
Belarus will play in Group A in Copenhagen against new world champion Sweden, Russia, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Slovakia, France and Austria.
Host Denmark will play in Group B in Herning with runner-up Canada, Finland, the USA, Germany, Norway, Latvia and newcomer Korea.
Belarus finished 13th at the 2017 IIHF World Championship with two victories in seven games.
As BelTA earlier informed, the 2021 IIHF World Championship will be co-hosted by Minsk and Riga. The relevant decision was made following the vote at the IIHF Congress in Cologne on 19 May 2017.
