Belarus' Ice Hockey Federation, HC Dinamo Minsk in for integration

MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) – HC Dinamo Minsk and the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation are in for integration, Belarus' Interior Minister, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of HC Dinamo Minsk Igor Shunevich told the media after his meeting with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 24 September, BelTA has learned.

“The head of state was briefed on the development of the hockey industry in the country, the prospects for HC Dinamo Minsk and the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation. One of the proposals put forward by the head of state is the integration of these two units to remove the current conflict of interests,” Igor Shunevich said.

The minister did not comment on how the two organizations are to be integrated but said that “the formula is simple”. “It is still early to talk about it. As soon as we are ready to announce the news, we will do it together with the chairman of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation. This will happen in the near future,” the chairman of the supervisory board said.

Igor Shunevich stressed that all decisions made on the matter should be aimed at the development of the sport and strong players. Special attention should be attached to the preparations for the 2021 IIHF World Championship. “I have prepared a document to set up an organizing committee led by the prime minister and submitted it for consideration,” the minister said.
