Belarus' Darya Yurkevich 3rd in 15K Individual in Ostersund

MINSK, 1 December (BelTA) – Darya Yurkevich of Belarus won the Women's 15K Individual bronze at the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon 1 in Ostersund, Sweden.

The clean-shooting Belarusian finished 1:17.3 seconds behind the winner, Laura Dahlmeier of Germany (46:14.0; two penalties). Second came in Anais Bescond from France with one penalty, 15.8 seconds back.

Strong gusts created difficult conditions for many leading biathletes. Bad weather spoiled the performance of other Belarusian athletes at the shooting range as well. Nadezhda Skardino finished 43rd, 6:29.8 seconds back with six penalties. Irina Krivko had seven penalties to cross the finish line in 46th. Anastasia Kinnunen (Duborezova) was 72nd, while Kristina Ilchenko completed the distance 85th.

The BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon 1 in Ostersund will continue with the Men's 20K Individual event on 1 December. Vladimir Chepelin, Sergei Bocharnikov, Roman Yeletnov and Maksim Vorobei will represent Belarus in the race.
