Belarus' Chergeiko wins Polish Open KALIBER 2016

MINSK, 30 November (BelTA) – Ilya Chergeiko of Belarus showed the best air rifle result to win gold at the Polish Open KALIBER 2016, an international shooting competition in Bialystok, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian scored 208.9 points in the final, leaving behind Ukraine's Sergei Kulish (207.8) and Peter Sidi of Hungary (185.1). Ilya Chergeiko's teammate Vitaly Bubnovich placed eighth. Belarus scored a total of 1867.1 points to top the team air rifle standings. The Belarusian women's air rifle team of Polina Zaitseva, Antonina Zui and Vladislava Pronko claimed bronze with 1232 points.

Silver medal in the men's air pistol event went to Andrei Kazak of Belarus who scored 198 points to finish behind Poland's Wojciech Knapik. Belarus' Yekaterina Kruchenok demonstrated good shooting to score 197.4 for silver, just 0.2 points behind the winner of the women's air pistol event, Klaudia Bres from Poland (197.6).

Partaking in the Polish open competition were 460 shooters from 12 countries.
