MINSK, 16 August (BelTA) – Belarus defeated Norway 3-1 (25-17, 28-26, 18-25, 28-26) at the start of the qualification for the 2019 Men's European Volleyball Championship, BelTA has learned.
Despite losing a lot of points due to defensive mistakes Belarus managed to secure a win in Pool E.
Andrei Radyuk (16 points) and Sergei Busel (14 points) led the Belarusian team on the night.
The two teams played in the qualification for the 2018 Men's European Volleyball Championship in May 2017. Belarus won 3-1 then, too.
Belarus will next play Spain on 19 August. Spain is Belarus' main rival in the contention for the first place in Pool E and the berth in the main stage of the continental forum which is due to take place in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Slovenia on 12-29 September 2019.
The Belarusian men's team came through the European Volleyball Championship qualification in 2013 and 2015.
