Belarus beat France in Euro Hockey Challenge final game

MINSK, 2 May (BelTA) - Belarus beat France in the final game of the Euro Hockey Challenge 4-1, BelTA has learned.

Belarus lost the first match against France in Bordeaux 1-3, held as part of the preparations for the world's sport forum.

In the second game Dave Lewis' men opened the scoring in the 10th minute through Yevgeny Kovyrshin. Alexander Pavlovich and Mikhail Stefanovich extended Belarus' lead in the second period. Charles Linglet scored a fourth in the 60th minute of the game after France capitalized on a penalty shot.

The Belarusian national team is now traveling to Paris to open the 2017 IIHF World Championhsip against Finland on 5 May in Group B. Dave Lewis' men will also play against the Czech Republic on 6 May, Canada on 8 May, Switzerland on 10 May, France on 12 May, Slovenia on 13 May and Norway on 16 May. Group A teams (Sweden, Russia, the United States, Germany, Latvia, Denmark, Slovakia, Italy) will play in Cologne.

Four best teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinal.
