Belarus beat Belgium in FIBA EuroBasket 2017 qualifying

MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) – Belarusian basketball players claimed their first win in the FIBA EuroBasket 2017 qualifying, BelTA has learned.

Anatoly Buyalski's team beat Belgium 76-71 (26-22, 12-14, 23-16, 15-19) at the Minsk Palace of Sports on 25 November. Anastasia Veremeyenko led the Belarusian team with 24 points. In the Group G opener Belarus lost to Poland 56-65 (20-9, 22-21, 13-16, 1-19).

Belarus will play the rest of the FIBA EuroBasket 2017 qualifying games in 2016. Belarus will host Poland on 24 February and travel to Belgium on 19 November. The Czech Republic has qualified for the final stage, skipping the qualifying stage. The other 15 spots will be distributed among the winners of nine qualifying groups and six best runners-up.
