MINSK, 8 August (BelTA) - BATE Borisov beat Qarabag Azerbaijan 1-0 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round on 7 August, BelTA informs.
The teams played in Baku at the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium.
Stanislav Dragun's header in the first-half (36th minute) earned BATE a win.
The hosts tried hard to seize the initiative but Belarusian goalkeeper Denis Shcherbitsky stood strong.
The return leg is due at Borisov Arena on 14 August.
Winners will play PSV Eindhoven in playoffs.
