MINSK, 21 September (BelTA) – BATE Borisov defeated Hungary's Vidi 2-0 in the opening match of the UEFA Europa League group stage on 20 September, BelTA informs.
BATE were under pressure at several points, but stood strong throughout the game. Jasse Tuominen and Egor Filipenko secured points with goals late in each half.
In another Group L match in Thessaloniki Chelsea beat PAOK 1-0.
On 4 October BATE will host PAOK at Borisov Arena, while Chelsea will play Vidi in London.
On 20 September Dynamo Kyiv under Belarusian coach Alexander Khatskevich drew 2-2 with Astana that features Belarus' Ivan Mayevsky.
