MINSK, 29 November (BelTA) - Victoria Azarenka of Belarus has parted ways with her coach Michael Joyce, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian player and one of the best American specialists, who earlier worked with Maria Sharapova and Sloane Stephens, started working together when she returned to the tour following her maternity leave this year.
“Vika is an extremely talented player. While I am excited to see her return to tennis, I encourage and respect her decision to put her family first. It is with deep regret that I have decided to move forward with my coaching career while she continues to work out her private life. I look forward to seeing her on the tour soon and wish her the best of luck,” a statement from Michael Joyce reads.
The Belarusian has not played at official tournaments since July 2017 due to a custody battle over her son. Victoria Azarenka has already announced that she will begin her 2018 season at the ASB Classic in Auckland.
