MINSK, 14 August (BelTA) – Belarus' world number 87 Victoria Azarenka has progressed to the second round of the 2018 Western & Southern Open, BelTA has learned.
In the opener the Belarusian defeated Spain's world number 25 Carla Suarez Navarro 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 6-4 in two hours 30 minutes. Victoria Azarenka will next face France's world number 5 Caroline Garcia.
Belarus' world number 36 Aliaksandra Sasnovich lost 0-6, 6-4, 1-6 to Slovakia's world number 56 Viktoria Kuzmova.
The hard court tournament in Cincinnati will finish on Sunday, 19 August.
