Azarenka commends Minsk sports facilities, complains about weather

MINSK, 20 April (BelTA) – Minsk has perfect living and training conditions, but the weather could be better, Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka told the media on 20 April, BelTA has learned.

The leading Belarusian female tennis player said that she loves Minsk and is always happy to return to the city. This time she came with new coaches and with her baby son. According to Victoria Azarenka, her team was pleased with Minsk sports facilities that provide perfect conditions for game practice and physical training. However, Victoria complained about the weather. “If it were warmer I would spend more time on court outdoors. But still I can train on indoor courts and in gym to prepare to get back to the WTA Tour,” Victoria said.

Victoria Azarenka remarked that Minsk keeps up with other cities in terms of living conditions: food products are of high quality, the road quality is also good. Healthcare workers treat patients as good as in the USA, Victoria said. Although she admitted that it is easier for her than for many young Belarusian mothers because she has many helpers.

The tennis player noted that she now thinks less about herself. Her son is the center of attention now. Victoria said she started to use her time more efficiently. When the son was born, the responsibility doubled. Speaking about on-court behavior, Victoria underlined that she will keep playing with maximum dedication but hopes to argue less with referees.

Victoria Azarenka has been in Minsk for over a month so far. This weekend she will support her fellow tennis players in Belarus vs Switzerland Fed Cup semifinal tie. Victoria said she will be together with the girls and cheer them up as they take on the strong opponents.
